Open call for 6 young people from Italy to join the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange "PROTECT YOUR FUTURE WITH DISASTER AWARENESS" which will be hosted by "Black Wood Environmental Biedriba" in Riga, Latvia from 12-19th of May 2024. This project is co-funded by Erasmus+ program of the European Union.

About the project

Our project was written in order to raise awareness of societies and young people and to make their voices clear by preventing the loss of life and property due to unconscious behaviors, precautions and precautions taken by natural disasters all over the world. Our project is planned to increase awareness and knowledge about natural disasters, to ensure that young people are informed and trained on the causes, effects, preparation and response methods of natural disasters, precautions to be taken before disasters, emergency planning, first aid and resilience. Because the level of disaster preparedness and awareness among young people is low. Young people do not have information about the effects of disasters and how they should act in case of a disaster.


The expected results and impacts after our project are as follows:

-Our project aims to significantly enhance the awareness and readiness of young people regarding natural disasters.-Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the origins, impacts, and preventive measures associated with disasters.


-Through comprehensive knowledge and preparation, individuals will become better equipped to face disasters effectively.


-Encouraging active engagement in collaborative efforts, including aiding society and addressing its needs during disaster events, fostering a culture of social solidarity.


-Empowering individuals to assume leadership roles by leveraging their disaster preparedness knowledge and skills to devise innovative and impactful solutions.


-Advocating for the inclusion of youth voices in disaster-related discussions and policy-making processes, enabling them to actively contribute to society.


-By raising public awareness about the causes and consequences of natural disasters, we anticipate a greater degree of caution among individuals when selecting residences and safeguarding their belongings.


-Through our project, participants, target groups and segments of society will gain more awareness about the seriousness of natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods.

Eligibility
 
- You are Italian or a legal resident in Italy.
 
- Aged between 18 - 30 years, There is No age limit for Team leader.
 
- Have a good Command of English Language.
 
- Able to work in a team, responsible, flexible and motivated by this project.

- Able to attend the full duration of the project.
 
 
Project Countries
 
Italy, Latvia, Spain, Portugal, Bulgaria, and Turkiye

The total number of participants will be 36 (6 participants from each country).
 

Finance and Benefits
 
- Travel Expenses will be reimbursed up to 275 EUR for participants from Italy.
 
- Host organization will reimburse the travel expenses by bank transfer to group leader accounts after the training.

- You will be accommodated at Hotel in shared rooms in 2/3 starts hotel with another participants (Same Gender).

- You will get 3 meals and 2 coffee break per day.

- Project Materials will be provided by host organization.
 
 
What to Bring?
 
- All the participants coming from the EU should bring their European Health Card. They can use the free European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to allow cover private health care, non- emergency health costs, or being flown back to your home country. 
 
- Your Passport / National ID / Valid residence permit card
 
- National / traditional food, drinks, clothes, music or other things of your country you would like to present/ show for intercultural evenings
 
- Music, games, photos and other are also welcome
 
- Some sport / casual clothes as well, as You can
 
- Positive energy and open-minded attitude

Extra Days
 
Participants can spend in in total 2 extra days on their own costs in the country before the project starts and/or after the project. If you stay over 2 days, then we cannot reimburse to you your tickets at all.
 
 
How to get to the Riga city center?
 
•For arrival to Riga, please consider the most cost-effective flight or bus option from your location to the project destination. Before confirming your ticket purchase, we request that you reach out to us for verification. Detailed information regarding transportation to the accommodation will be shared via the project's Facebook group. Additionally, please inquire with your organization about green travel options for further information.

•In Riga, transportation services are facilitated through buses, trams, trolleybuses, and minibuses, operating from approximately 5 a.m. to shortly before midnight. Night buses run certain routes during weekends. Rigas satiksme website offers access to public transport schedules, maps, and a route planner.

Bus No. 22 connects Riga Airport to downtown Riga, with a journey lasting around 30 minutes and departures occurring every 10 to 30 minutes. Tram No. 11 travels from the city center to the Mežaparks neighborhood in approximately 30 minutes. During summer, the Retro Tram, a replica of an electric tram from 1909-1910, also operates on this route. Buses No. 4, 7, and 8 provide transportation from the city center to the Āgenskalns neighborhood, home to the local Āgenskalns market.

For ticket purchases, the most convenient option is to visit Narvesen outlets or stops equipped with ticket machines. However, not all stops have ticket machines. An eco-friendly alternative is to purchase tickets using the Mobilly mobile application. Tickets can also be obtained directly from the driver. Each ticket allows for one boarding, and if a passenger needs to transfer to another mode of transport to reach their destination, a new ticket must be used. Passengers are required to validate their tickets using the electronic validator upon boarding public transport vehicles.

•Details regarding accommodation, typically organized at hostels, will be communicated through various channels, emphasizing the importance of regularly monitoring for updates. It's crucial to stay informed via our communication platforms to ensure you have the latest information about your hostel arrangement. We highly recommend checking these channels frequently to avoid missing any important updates or changes. Your diligence in staying updated will ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience throughout your accommodation period.

Rules and procedures
 
- All the participants will be expected to be present and active in all the activities.

- Unauthorized absence from the activities and workshops won‘t be tolerated.

- Respect the common areas and leave them clean.

- Be on time every session.

- Respect the schedule.

- Don‘t disturb after midnight.

- Any lack of respect among participants and staff won't be tolerated.

- Stress, nerves and bad mood is prohibited everywhere. Bring your best mood and big smile with you and keep it through the Exchange! Prepare for fun!
